Vorstheim is a planet within the Iceglass Belt. It is 1.3 times the size of Earth - due to its unusual size for a terrestrial planet so far from the sun, it is believed to have been an extrasolar capture. Vorstheim's landscape consists of tall ice and crystal formations jutting out like spikes. The planet seems uninviting with its near constant 70 mph winds, but large deposits of iron can be found locked away within the ice. Iridium deposits can also be found in the planet's mountains.

Geography and AtmosphereEdit

It is very unusual for a terrestrial planet so far from its parent star to have such a thick atmosphere. Computer simulations show that Vorstheim is most likely an extra solar capture and possibly an ancient Earth-like world cast away from its system. The gravitational pull of its largest moon, Frossentmaan, stirs up intense cryvolcanic activity as geysers of water-ice and strong winds cover the planet.

Although Vorstheim has an ideal resource pool, it is mostly Frossentmaan that has been settled as Vorstheim's electrical storms have been known to create problems with navigational equipment. As a result, very little of the planet's surface has been explored.

EcosystemEdit

Vorstheim has a subsurface vibrant ecosystem with lichenous caverns warmed by geothermal heat. These life bearing caves are particularly found near the fault lines in the equator where tectonic activity is strongest.

The creatures here are almost exclusively blind invertebrates. The Vorstwasp is a predominant creature that navigates through echolocation, using the buzzing sound of its wings as well as its antennae to navigate. What is particularly horrifying about it is the way it reproduces. It injects its eggs inside its prey which are then incubates for several months until the larvae eats its way out.

ColonizationEdit

Vorstheim itself has no permanent settlements on the surface, but many orbital space stations exist with space elevators connected to the far less atmospherically violent Frossentmaan.
